Recently, controversy has arisen around former president Alberto Fernández, who is being investigated for alleged gender-based violence against his ex-partner, Fabiola Yáñez. In this context, a comment made by PRO leader Jorge Macri was referenced, who questioned a comparison made by a libertarian regarding homosexuals and pedophiles. This incident has highlighted the differences between PRO and La Libertad Avanza, their allied party, which seeks to take control of the City of Buenos Aires from PRO.
Regarding this controversy, it has been confirmed that the Executive Power will continue with an agenda perceived as antifeminist, which will include the elimination of the femicide label in the Penal Code. According to a high source from the Ministry of Justice, they are working on modifying this figure without leading to the release of convicts, ensuring that penalties will remain for homicides against women and men, taking aggravating factors into account.
In another context, following the recent March of Antifascist and Antiracist LGBTA Pride, it has been mentioned that Casa Rosada has downplayed the importance of the protest by considering that fewer people attended than expected. Additionally, the intention to eliminate the figure of femicide from the Penal Code has been confirmed. Despite the mobilization that gathered more than 80,000 people in rejection of certain statements by President Javier Milei, the presidential office has indicated that the demands will not alter the Executive Power's plans regarding its agenda viewed as 'antifeminist.'
According to sources close to the Government, it has been stated that the march will not affect the implementation of the planned actions, indicating that those who made the call misunderstood the presidential speech. Moreover, criticism has been directed at opposition sectors that aligned with the principles of the LGBT collective, warning that alliances with these sectors have not yielded favorable results.
